WATER TESTING

Ensure the quality of your water: Customized solutions for microbiological and chemical analysis

Our certified experts offer a complete water analysis service for drinking water distribution networks as well as recreational waters and wells. SolAireau Group offers to its customers two types of analysis depending on the type of water to be analyzed.

WATER ANALYSIS

Since the March 2015 regulation your water intended for human consumption must be compliant with the Drinking Water Quality Act. Water testing is recommended at least once a year. We advise our customers to carry out this analysis when the possibility of contamination is the highest:
  • In early spring
  • after the snow has melted
  • after an extended period of drought
  • during heavy rain
  • long periods of non-use of well
  •  if your water changes its color or odor

TYPES OF WATER ANALYSIS

The physicochemical water analysis identifies the concentration of pollutants and metals present. Some parameters are analyzed such as water hardness, pH, minerals such as iron, turbidity and the color.

Microbiological analysis can indicate the rate of microbiological contamination of your water and determine if it is unfit for consumption. The identified bacteria are faecal and total coliforms, enterococci, atypical bacteria and AAHB (Aerobic and Anaerobic Heterotrophic Bacteria).

One of our specialists will come on site to collect one or more samples of your water and proceed to a laboratory analysis.

Potability of water
(Microbiological analysis)

The microbiological analysis of water consists of a count of pathogenic bacteria and contaminants of fecal origin. This analysis is crucial to ensure the potability of the water we consume.

Parameters analyzed :

Total coliforms

atypical bacteria

E. coli

enterococci

Water color
(Does your water stain your clothes when you wash them?)

Parameters analyzed :

Metals (Fe, Mn)

Tannins and lignins

Hardness (calculation)

Have you noticed abnormal colors on your clothes after washing? Your water has a certain color? It is quite possible that it contains too much of certain metals or tannins and lignins. Iron and manganese, if present in excessive amounts, can create a color in the water that can stain clothes or even alter the taste of the water.

Tannins and lignins are organic compounds from natural or anthropogenic sources and can make water unfit for human or animal consumption.

The hardness of water corresponds to the concentration of calcium and magnesium which are two minerals essential to health, but which can scale domestic equipment if they are present in too large a quantity.

Water odor
(Does your water have a smell?)

Parameters analyzed  :

Total organic carbon

Tannins and lignins

Sulfides

A bad odor in the water may indicate the presence of bacteria such as those that produce sulfides as well as decaying organic matter.

Tannins and lignins are organic compounds from natural or anthropogenic sources and can make water unfit for human or animal consumption. It is important to identify the source of the odor in order to take appropriate measures to eliminate the problem and improve water quality.
